American Spirit
The American Flag, flown over the World Trade Center after 9-11, is born into the arena at the Schmetizun Pow Wow in Connecticut. At every Pow Wow in the US, this tradition is the very first event of the traditional Grand March as Indian people from more than 570 tribes across the country join together to celebrate their culture and their love for this country. As a percentage of our population, native people are more likely to serve in our armed forces than any other group of people.
With all they have been through over 500 years, they still find themselves proud to sing the American song. Perhaps if we remember this, we can all find a way to do the same.
