I Am, I Cried
In the wake of Hurricane Maria the small island nation of Dominica (aka Dominique) was devastated. Even today much of the island remains unrestored, though life for most people has returned to some semblance of normalcy. Many abandoned buildings and scenes still haunt the land however. Here, a wall and boarded window testify to the resiliance of the works of humans. In the mid-left a small blue handprint testifies to the determination. In the midst of all the signs of carnage exhibited in this wall a small blue handprint cries out, I AM. (with apologies to Neil Diamond who wrote an extraordinary song of the same title back in the 70s).

Wayne D. King’s images are a celebration of life, blending the real and the surreal to achieve a sense of place or time that reaches beyond the moment into a dreamlike quintessentialism designed to spark an emotional response. Using digital enhancement, handcrafting, painting, and sometimes even straight photography, King seeks to take the viewer to a place that is beyond simple truth to where truth meets passion, hope and dreams.
This image is available as a signed original or an affordable unsigned open-edition print. Signed originals are considered valued works of art because of the artist’s signature and the edition number indicating the rarity. For that reason they are created in limited numbers or a single original. They are printed on museum-quality rag fine art paper or canvas or metal. Open-edition prints bear no signature or may have a digital stamp. They are a very affordable alternative for people who simply love the work and can be purchased on various grades of paper and sizes to reflect your cost constraints. Their value is purely personal for people who love art and want to display an image.
