Mixed media montage creates a surreal and abstract image.
This mixed media montage creates a surreal and abstract image. It is created from two images captured on the same walk along the railroad tracks in Plymouth NH and then into Langdon Woods one of my favorite spots for both walking and photographing.
As I walked along the railroad tracks I passed by an area beneath a bridge where graffiti artists had filled the wall beneath the bridge with their work but little of it held any interest for me. Fortunately, the wall was beneath a bridge and could not be seen from the road coming into Plymouth so it did not create an eyesore. A bit farther along however a simple painting of a cloud on a low gray cement wall had somehow attracted an interesting vine as well creating an image I photographed and titled "Life and Death". However, that image was less interesting than the final product. It is art created by the nexus between the work of the graffiti artist and "the creator" and only borrowed by me - really. Now titled "Love and Death" with the addition of what, I believe, is a Spotted Knapweed; an invasive species originally indigenous to Europe but now found here in New England.
Bringing that image together with the first creates an image that makes for a surreal and beautiful abstract image that I find quite striking.
This image is available as a signed original or an affordable unsigned open-edition print. Signed originals are considered valued works of art because of the artist’s signature and the edition number indicating the rarity. For that reason they are created in limited numbers or a single original. They are printed on museum-quality rag fine art paper or canvas or metal. Open-edition prints bear no signature or may have a digital stamp. They are a very affordable alternative for people who simply love the work and can be purchased on various grades of paper and sizes to reflect your cost constraints. Their value is purely personal for people who love art and want to display an image.

Wayne D. King’s images are a celebration of life, blending the real and the surreal to achieve a sense of place or time that reaches beyond the moment into a dreamlike quintessentialism designed to spark an emotional response. Using digital enhancement, handcrafting, painting, and sometimes even straight photography, King seeks to take the viewer to a place that is beyond simple truth to where truth meets passion, hope and dreams.
