Greens 
             Stubbornly cling to life as the days 
                                    Get shorter and yield
                                   To winter winds borne East 
                                         From prairie farm 
                                                      And field
Orange Pops 
            Boldly declaring -  “the time has come!”
                                  Harvest garden, split wood
                                        Keep track of tasks, 
                                               Cross them off
                                               Do only 
                                                What you should.

Browns and Blues 
            Blend soft with greens, uniting spectral ends
                                Squeezing now into our brains
                                       Bittersweet longings for days now gone
                                            Inciting 
                                                 Winter’s blue refrain
