Title
The Lone Birch
Artist
Wayne King
Medium
Photograph - Black & White Photograph
Description
Captured using Ansel Adams' Zone system to make the whites pop without losing the middle grays in an image, this white birch bends lazily into the adjacent field from a previous ice storm. Young birches are especially vulnerable to winter ice storms which may permanently cause a tree to grow in a way not originally anticipated.
Limited edition of 25 images printed on rag fine art paper with archival inks. A digitally initialed open edition version has also been created. If you would like to purchase the original work click here: http://bit.ly/1ZKEnku
The digitally initialed open edition provides you with the closest approximation of an original without the premium cost of the original.
Wayne Kings images are a celebration of life, blending the real and the surreal to achieve a sense of place or time that reaches beyond the moment into a dreamlike quintessentialism designed to spark an emotional response. Using digital enhancement, handcrafting, painting, and sometimes even straight photography, King seeks to take the viewer to a place that is beyond simple truth to where truth meets passion, hope and dreams.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
