Description
Washday Tamworth New Hampshire 1973
A simple clothesline on a distressed home in rural Tamworth, NH. This is the very first clothesline image I ever captured. It was taken in the fall of 1973. I had just started at the University of New Hampshire and had only recently learned to use a camera. I often would go on weekend road trips to try and capture images of New Hampshire.
I created both a monochrome and a color image of the scene. This was the moment I fell in love with the washline as a celebration of the human spirit and condition. The Monochrome image I named "A Simple Wash"; the color image I labeled "Washday Tamworth NH".
Original image is created in a limited edition of 100 signed prints created on fine art rag paper with archival inks and including a certificate of authenticity.
This image is available as a signed original or an affordable unsigned open-edition print. Signed originals are considered valued works of art because of the artist’s signature and the edition number indicating the rarity. For that reason they are created in limited numbers or a single original. They are printed on museum-quality rag fine art paper or canvas or metal. Open-edition prints bear no signature or may have a digital stamp. They are a very affordable alternative for people who simply love the work and can be purchased on various grades of paper and sizes to reflect your cost constraints. Their value is purely personal for people who love art and want to display an image.

Wayne D. King’s images are a celebration of life, blending the real and the surreal to achieve a sense of place or time that reaches beyond the moment into a dreamlike quintessentialism designed to spark an emotional response. Using digital enhancement, handcrafting, painting, and sometimes even straight photography, King seeks to take the viewer to a place that is beyond simple truth to where truth meets passion, hope and dreams.
