Painted Fungus Chosen In National Food Art Competition

A unique piece of mixed media art created by hand-painting a monochromatic image of oyster mushrooms has been chosen as one of the winners in a national competition called "Food for Thought". Artist Wayne D. King created this image as a part of a study of mushrooms from which this image emerged among the best.

"I'm honored to have been chosen for this exhibition," said King.

A New York art collector has purchased two original images from Wayne King. This removes those originals from the list of available art, except for open edition fine art reproductions.

Originals sold were one-of-a-kind signed with a certificate of authenticity to guarantee provenance. Both images are still available as open edition reproductions as indicated below.

Wayne King Image Chosen For 2014  NH Center For The Arts Regional Juried Show


Rumney, NH . . .New Hampshire photographer and artist Wayne D. King has been chosen among the honored photographers in the 2014 Annual Art competition sponsored by Center for the Arts in New London, New Hampshire. Kings image, titled "I see the Way" is an image created in celebration of the many efforts to make living on earth more sustainable. It combined photography and water color painting to create an etherial image with powerful appeal.

“I’m grateful for the recognition,” said King. “This image is one of my favorites. it was created by combining two images and hand painting the sky to give it the watercolor effect. The base image is then scanned for output using long-lasting archival inks. One final original work is then output, signed and with a certificate of authenticity. Open edition fine art prints are also available.

Wayne King Receives Double Honors In Annual Third Coast National Art Competition And Exhibition

Rumney, NH . . .New Hampshire photographer and artist Wayne D. King has been chosen among the honored photographers in the annual Art competition sponsored by The K Space Contemporary Art Gallery of Corpus Christi Texas. Two of King’s images were chosen from among more than 524 images submitted by 38 artists from across the US. Only two artists had more than one image selected.

“I’m grateful for the recognition,” said King. “To have two images chosen among the 524 entries is a real honor. While winning is always nice,” King continued, having more than one image among the top images is a sign of some consistency of effort and style.

"Dogs Eye View" featured in Columbia County Council on Arts Show
The Columbia County Council on Art's has announced the winners in their annual "Not Necessarily Black and White" photographic exhibition an Wayne King's "Dog's Eye View" was among those selected for this prestigious show.

Hudson, NY, is the regional birthplace of the Hudson School of painting that gave birth to the White Mountain Art movement.

Exhibition Dates: March 22nd - May 16th
Opening Reception: Saturday, March 22nd, 5:00-7:00PM
The exhibition will be on display at the Columbia County Council on the Arts Gallery, 209 Warren Street, Hudson. All are invited to attend.
