Growing up in NH the Moose is the largest forest animal and a very sacred creature to my ancestors - both the Abenaki and Iroquois people. Perhaps it was just luck but during my first election to the State Senate I first achieved serious attention when I saved a young moose standing alone in the middle of the road. He was probably ill but I led him across the road and the nearby river as a local photographer captured the images. I probably owe my first election to that young moose and the people of Monroe, my opponent's hometown.
